Brad Livingston
Survived What Very Few Others Have, If Any. He Was Not In Just One Explosion. He Was Involved, Directly Involved, In Two Back-To-Back Explosions!!
Inspirational safety speaker Brad Livingston experienced back-to-back explosions while being employed by a natural gas pipeline company.
Brad was given a 5 percent chance of survival. His doctors also hinted at the possibility of amputating both hands and legs. According to them, he could not even survive another night, but he pulled through.
He acknowledges the unwavering support of family & friends, therapists, doctors, and nurses by giving them credit for his survival and recovery. He feels highly indebted to doctors, nurses, and therapists who used to treat him with such attention like he was the only patient to be attended to.
His tale of courage will be unforgettable for you. It surely leaves a lasting impact on the way you live your life afterward. Everything turned out okay. And he is fortunate enough to be alive. This is what people keep telling him.
It was not just the extreme physical pain, but the emotional trauma and torment were persistent and unbearable. It’s really a story to share, and that’s what he exactly wishes to do now. In an attempt to warn and protect others, from putting themselves, their family, kin, and company into a disastrous situation.
Just a second ago
While working as a welders helper at a natural gas well, some sparks got into a storage tank and, well, you can imagine the result. How, and why, did it happen? Pride; Perspectives; Shortcuts; Attitudes; Complacency! Brad is living proof that when you have one or any combination of these ingredients, a very deadly potential exists.
Safety! Safety! Safety!
It is stressed every day on the job. We watch videos. We give awards for safety achievments. Still, accidents happen. Why? If you listen to Brad, you’ll learn the contributing factors to this accident, and you will understand why and how you should prevent them from becoming factors in your workplace.
“I had no idea when we met who you were, or how powerful and inspirational you truly are. Nor did I have a clue at how your account of the terrible accident you were involved with would impact me. I have been a Safety Manager for many years. I have heard many folks share their harrowing tales. But none have touched me as you have.”

“Brad, you finished your presentation just 10 minutes ago. You’ve probably heard many times just how much impact you have on those you speak to, but I just have to tell you that again. I am so sorry that you, your family and your loved ones have had to bear the burdens that you’ve been laden with; but you can be assured that you have turned our routine little safety meeting from a pep talk and time for clever slogans into a genuine, heartfelt lesson that will certainly remain in our thoughts from now forward. Your suffering and your family’s worries have been turned into a truly worthwhile purpose. Quite possibly I will forget your name in the near future, but your story and your message will not be forgotten. God Himself has certainly kept you on Earth for this purpose. May He continue to bless you and your family.”

“Your presentation was a key to making this years meeting a success and I just wanted to say thanks again. I thought you may enjoy seeing some of the written comments from the conference evaluation on your presentation.
Amazing story with a great point about the hazards of shortcuts
OMG Excellent topic, need to share with all Pipeline Employees” (this must be one of the texting generation, rw)
Great speaker, very touching. Makes you think a lot more about others, including your family, instead of just yourself.
Most inspiring story I have ever heard. Very good.
Outstanding!
WHEW. . . WOW. . . WHOA” (directly as it came off the sheet, must be one of your more descriptive comments ever! rw).”

“Once again, I appreciate the message you brought to both the contractors and our company employees. I have received many positive comments and several stories as to how individuals changed the way they did a job in the days following the meeting. I think the message was heard loud and clear. If we prevented one accident, it was all worth it.”

“I just wanted to let you know how much your talk yesterday touched me. I have been with BJ Services 18 years and have heard many speakers, both in this business and in personal seminars I have attended. I feel that if your sharing your story with our field employees did not touch their hearts and make them more aware of safety issues and the rules that are in place for them, nothing ever will. I pray that you and your family will continue to be blessed each day. I would really love reading Speaking of Success. If you could send me a copy, I would appreciate it. Thank you again.”
