In Tales From the Penalty Box you will hear hilarious uncensored stories of games and careers from former NHLers; Matt Barnaby, Brad May, Andre Roy, Brian McGratton, Shayne Corson, PJ Stock, Andrew Peters, Georges Laraque, Marty McSorley. Fan’s will enjoy a behind-the-scenes, no-holds-barred look at the game. The players will share stories of what it was like inside an NHL dressing room, things that happened on the road the night before a game, & you’ll hear some of the things that were said on the ice that you can’t tell on the radio, or on TV. They will share humorous stories about coaches, teammates, opponents and their lives, and they won’t be holding back. The dynamic of fans expect to hear the really good stories … the nitty-gritty, ant they will, think of it as a gritty, uncensored hot stove.
Nothing is scripted and each event can go any which way, nothing is off limits.
The show is customizable and consists of host Darcy Lynch and generally two or three NHLers. Over the past two decades Darcy has hosted radio programs for TSN and Sportsnet, worked for two NHL teams, and collaborated on promotional initiatives with the NHL Alumni Association and Hockey Canada. His weekly Life After The Game radio show currently airs on multiple stations across Canada.
The show lasts 90 minutes, the first hour or so of Tales from the Penalty Box is typically a conversation between host Darcy Lynch and the players, as the lineup varies, depending on the location of the show and members of the audience will have about 25 minutes to ask questions, before mingling for additional conversation & autographs. Fans generally have a lot of questions, and the players will give honest answers, which isn’t always popular. This is their perspective and there are a lot of laughs.
