Magic – Is it an Illusion? Or Enchantment?
As a Magician, Chanelle will bend minds, shape-shift space, and transport you from everyday reality.
Speak Your Truth – The Power of Your Voice Workshop
In this inspirational workshop, students will learn about Chanelle’s journey as a vocalist and artist. It includes the importance of expressing oneself in the face of adversity. Students are taught that every individual’s voice is unique, and a gift.
Students will learn about The Seven Energy Centers of The Body, describing what each represents, and then focus on their Vocal Energy Center. They learn that their Vocal Energy Center becomes damaged when they gossip or say wrongful things about one another. A strong anti-bullying and anti-cyber-bullying message is woven into this workshop.
Conversely, The Vocal Energy Center is strengthened when students speak their truth, express themselves, communicate clearly and speak kind words to each other.
Students will participate in different vocal exercises in an exciting group setting, finishing with group songs. They are left with vocal exercises and resources so that they may continue their Vocal Journey on their own time. Studies have shown that singing has profound benefits on mental health and wellness. It lowers cortisol, the stress hormone in the body, while increasing dopamine and endorphins, leaving the singer with an increased sense of calm and happiness. It also gives the singer an outlet to move through their emotions and express themselves in a healthy manner. Students also learn to sing in different languages, which enhances cognitive function.
This workshop primes students for The Karaoke Dance Party that is offered later in the evening, and gives students the confidence to get on the mic.
Indigenous Art Therapy Workshop
This workshop gives students an appreciation and skillset to observe and create fine art while also learning about different Indigenous cultures across Turtle Island. This helps to strengthen cultural identity and gives students more confidence in their roots, who they are, and where they come from.
Chanelle’s Mother, Leesa, who was Métis Cree, used to teach this very program. She received a Starblanket and Eagle Feathers for her work in the community. Before she passed, she handed down this workshop and teachings to Chanelle.
Students will learn about traditional Indigenous art forms, and then compare and contrast them with contemporary innovative pieces of Indigenous art. We do not know where we are going unless we know where we came from.
This exercise encourages youth to create their own art and forge their own path into a bright and innovative future.
They are given a relaxing, peaceful, non-competitive atmosphere in which they can therapeutically express themselves through a visual medium. Research has shown that art therapy can help alleviate depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other various types of trauma. It helps students express complex emotions without using words, commencing in self-discovery and the healing process.
Métis Music History Concert
This workshop is a continuation of Chanelle’s “Power of Your Voice” workshop, but focuses more on instrumentation. It teaches students how to read, write, and play their own original music, and further craft their own songwriting and means of expression.
Students will learn the history and significance of Indigenous and Métis culture as Chanelle plays songs from her full-length album, “White Bird Woman”. She’ll also touch on topics including Louis Riel, Tommy Prince, environmentalism, Grassy Narrows, the Red Dress project, and Residential Schools.
Students are given workbooks later, to reflect upon the histories of Indigenous peoples in Canada. They are inspired to create innovative solutions for moving forward in a positive way, towards reconciliation. This workshop is intended for older students.
Chanelle Munroe’s Basketball and Volleyball Camps
Chanelle was once one of the top 10 basketball players in Canada. She has extensive training and knowledge in basketball skills. She had previously run a basketball camp with her Dad. She also competed with the Manitoba provincial team in volleyball. This is a fun workshop that gets kids moving and encourages physical exercise and promotes teamwork.
Karaoke Dance Party
At our Karaoke Dance Party, kids and teachers are encouraged to come up and sing whatever songs they like, from our vast selection of 10,000+ songs. Light show is included. Dancing is encouraged! This dance party encourages students to put into practice what they learned in their “Movement as Medicine” Workshop and “Power of your Voice” Workshop, integrating a fun way to sing and dance.
For the more introverted students, a huge blank canvas is put up on the wall and they are encouraged to create live paintings as the party goes on. We end with group photos in front of the mural they created.
