Experience of David Merry
Since his appearances on “SCTV”, “BIZARRE” and “An Evening at the Improv”, David has been on “Open Mike with Mike Bullard”, (2 appearances), “Yuk Yuk’s the TV Show”, “The John Oakley Show”, “Cooking with Comics”, “Comedy College”, 3 episodes of “Comedy at Club 54” including their 7th Anniversary Special, the “Komedy Kitchen”, and has just completed his own half-hour comedy special of “Comics!”, on CBC. He is a past recipient of Canada’s “Club Comic of the Year” Honors. Theater is David’s true love, playing many of Canada’s premiere stages. They include “Night of 100 Stars with Michael Burgess and Maureen Forrester at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, The Blythe Festival Theater and The Stratford Festival Theater.
David’s recent concert appearances include appearing at Roy Thomson Hall opening for such stars as Engelbert Humperdinck, Jerry Seinfeld (Superstars), Kris Kristofferson (Stages), Howie Mandel (Okeefe Center), Tommy Chong, (Cheech & Chong, Niagara Falls Convention Center) The Beach Boys (Kingswood Music Theater), Steve Landesburg, The Nylons (Danforth Music Hall), Neil Sedaka (The Sanderson Center, The Imperial Room, Roy Thomsom Hall) Roch Voisine (The Ottawa Civic Center), Michael Bolton (Casino Rama Special Events Pavillion), and week long tours with Steven Wright (Hummingbird Theater, Hamilton Place, The Olypmic Theater, Centennial Hall), Weird Al Yankovic (National Arts Center, Chrysler Theater, Center in the Square, Centennial Hall) also Rich Hall, Billy Newton Davis, and Luba, The Box, and The Jitters.
David has performed on cruise ships in the Caribbean and Mediterranean and has performed in such far away places as St. Kitts, Bermuda, Athens, Greece, Maui, Alert (Northwest Territories), Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Tucson, Paris, France Walt Disney World, Yellowknife, Banff, Venezuela, , Malaga, Iqaluit, Queen Charlotte Islands, Key Largo, Los Cabos Mexico, Gothaab (Greenland), Whistler, Goose Bay (Labrador), Lake Tahoe (Nevada), Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Atlantic City, and Monte Carlo. He has written jokes for Rodney Dangerfield and Joan Rivers and has been a contributing writer for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Besides the several TV commercials he’s done, most notably the 1050 CHUM D.J. commercial, David also appeared in a movie called Recruits.
David recently completed Dinner at Fred’s, starring Christopher Lloyd, for Paragon Pictures as comedy and magic consultant. He was the host of Global TV’s hit sports trivia game show “Game On”. The second season is still in reruns which can be seen nationally in Canada on CTV’s Sportsnet (check local listings). He was voted best “VARIETY PERFORMER” on the Northeast Corporate Entertainment Awards in 2007 (NYC) and was nominated for the Best One Man Show from the Canadian Comedy Awards in 2004. David’s latest project was hosting the new (golf) long drive high energy TV show “THUNDERBALL”. It was shot on location in front of 1000 people at the Las Vegas National golf club in October and is currently being shopped and will soon air on a US national network.
