Brent Butt was 20 when he began doing stand-up comedy in 1988. He was seeking out a career in humour when a comedy club opened in Saskatoon. He was offered a road tour within four months of first stepping on stage for an amateur night appearance.
He’s also had bit parts in movies like Duets and Becoming Dick, as well as episodes of The Kids in the Hall, The X-Files, and Millennium.
Brent has also created, starred, and produced the comedy series Corner Gas on CTV. The show drew over a million viewers weekly and became the number one comedy, broadcasted in 26 countries including the U.S. and airing for six seasons.
He also created the CTV sitcom Hiccups, which won multiple LEO awards.

Brent was named Best Male Stand-Up in Canada at the 2001 Canadian Comedy Awards and represented Canada on the World Comedy Tour in Australia. He also did the Just for Laughs Asian Tour in Singapore and was invited to appear on the CBC 50th Anniversary special All-Star Comedy Homecoming.
He was headlining in Toronto in a year and was showcased in his own gala performance at Montreal’s Just for Laughs after four years. Brent lives and works out of Vancouver. His career was featured in the cultural affairs program Adrienne Clarkson Presents involves becoming a regular on Just for Laughs and appearing in many national and international television shows. He has his own special Bedtime with Brent Butt and a one-hour special Comedy Now – Funnypants, which earned him a Gemini nomination for Best Comedy Performance.
