Experience of Jonny Harris
Jonny Harris is originally from Pouch Cove in Newfoundland and Labrador and is a graduate of Sir Wilfred Grenfell College’s School of Fine Arts.
Jonny’s comedy has been showcased in every medium and at the highest levels across the country. As a stand-up comedian he has appeared at the Halifax, Winnipeg and St. John’s Comedy Festival many times. Jonny has performed on several episodes of CBC Radio’s Madly Off in all Directions and The Debators. He was a guest writer one season for the acclaimed This Hour has 22 Minutes.
In 2004, Jonny Harris wrote and hosted the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council Awards.
Jonny is a founding member of St. John’s sketch comedy troupe ‘The Dance Party of Newfoundland’, winners of the 2007 Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival’s Best of the Fest award. He is a contributing writer for and a star of Mary Walsh’s Hatching, Matching and Dispatching.
His one-man-show Out of the Bog has played at The Nakai Comedy Arts Festival, Victoria’s UNO festival, and the Magnetic North Theatre Festival.
Jonny Harris did a more dramatic turn for the feature film, Grown Up Movie Star, with which he attended the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
Harris currently plays Constable George Crabtree on CBC’s crime-drama Murdoch Mysteries, for which he has garnered two Gemini nominations for Best Supporting-Lead in a Dramatic Series.
