During the height of his collegiate career, his life changed dramatically. On November 3rd, 1984, he survived a horrendous automobile accident as a passenger in his friend’s car, suffering a life-threatening spinal cord neck injury that left him paralyzed from the chest down and diagnosed a quadriplegic.
Scott Burrows was a star athlete and fierce competitor. By the age of 19, he played college football at Florida State University as a walk-on wide receiver and was a top-ranked kick-boxing Black Belt champion whose last fight was broadcast by ESPN.
Despite his grim diagnosis, Scott refused to be sidelined. After six months of intense physical therapy, he fought the fight of his life and progressed further than anyone could have imagined. Embracing his new life, as opposed to resisting it, he returned to college and earned a BS Degree in Finance. In addition, he found himself competing again, this time in a completely different sport. They call it full-contact Wheelchair Rugby, otherwise known as Murderball, a Paralympic sport.
After graduating from college, Scott’s first career was as a Financial Advisor in the Insurance and Financial Industry. In his 5th year, he qualified for the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), the Premiere Association of Financial Professionals, which is a 100% commission-driven sales production award that fewer than 8% of his peers qualify for annually from more than 500 companies in 70 countries.
At the pinnacle of that career, right after attending the MDRT’s Annual Conference with over 8,000 attendees watching phenomenal motivational speakers, Scott experienced yet another setback, a second automobile accident. New injuries forced him to RE-evaluate, RE-invent and once again RE-ignite his life. During that time, Scott was so inspired by the MDRT speakers that he made a decision to leave the Insurance and Financial Industry, an industry that he had so much passion for, to pursue two new career paths. He became a motivational speaker and took advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to partner with his brother to expand his multimillion-dollar golf course supply business into Southeast Asia.
Today, Scott is an in-demand Keynote Motivational Speaker who brings the concepts of Vision, Mindset and Grit to life.
