According to the Winnipeg native, her comedy career came into its own once she realized that she was at her funniest when she spoke honestly about herself. In 2014 she experienced a break up that challenged her ability to get up on stage and make the crowd laugh. One day, however, she went up and simply told them, “I’m just crying all the time” to a huge reaction. From then on, she realized the rich comedic potential of her own life. Growing up the daughter of a small town Manitoban mother and a Nigerian father, she’s uniquely attuned to the absurdity of life. Her shows are all about observing everything random in the everyday, always with a positive, energetic outlook. She also does motivational speaking and corporate conventions, so whether you’re looking for a clean, positive message or something with a bit more edge for a youthful audience, Aisha is the entertainer for your event.

While she first made a name for herself in the comedy club circuit in Winnipeg, since moving to Toronto she’s been appearing on some of the biggest shows in Canadian television. One early big break was the role of Ms. Grell on the hit show Degrassi: Next Generation, and she was also the host of the MuchMusic classic Video on Trial. After a stint studying at Toronto’s Second City, though, Aisha joined the cast of the CBC’s funniest annual sketch comedy show, Air Farce’s New Years Eve. Throughout her career, she’s also been a veteran of Just for Laughs, NBC Stand Up, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and dozens of roles for the big screen. She’s also filming a starring role in an upcoming TV series based on Canada’s sharpest online satirical newspaper, The Beaverton.

Given her rising star status, many are surprised that comedy is actually her second passion. As a younger adult, she taught English in South Korea, where she faced discrimination from schools that thought she didn’t “look Canadian enough.” But that didn’t stop her from pursuing her love of soccer as the only female player in Seoul’s semi-professional men’s league. With all of this under her belt, Aisha brings a worldly perspective to her routines that’s inspiring, authentic, and that will split your sides.

In 2012, Aisha was also a TEDx Manitoba speaker, thanks to her ability to blend laughter with inspirational talks when the occasion calls for it. Whether the event you’re planning is big or small, corporate or collegiate, Aisha Alfa will deliver with her hilarious, relatable, and perky style. If she sounds like the entertainer you need to kick off your event in style, book her through us at Corporate Entertainers. We’re your one stop shop for all of your event entertainment needs.
