Experience of Graham Chittenden
Born and raised in Brantford, ON, Graham Chittenden didn’t always dream of working in comedy, but instead thought he would make his career as a mathematician! He soon realized that his true calling was on stage and set his sights on making it big. A good ol’ Canadian boy at heart, Graham counts his favourite movie as Slap Shot.
In 2009, Graham Chittenden was a finalist in The Great Canadian Laugh Off, and runner up in Yuk Yuk’s Homegrown Competition. Graham has appeared in numerous comedy specials, including his own COMEDY NOW!, which aired on The Comedy Network, and was nominated for a 2012 Canadian Comedy Award. In 2013, Graham landed at MTV Canada as the host of MTV SHOWTOWN, alongside Paul “The Intern” Lemieux, Sheena and Nicole, delivering and deliberating current events. Later that year he hosted COMEDY @ JFL42 in Toronto, a week-long talk show on The Comedy Network where he sat down with likes of Bill Burr and Sarah Silverman to crack wise about the JFL42 Comedy Festival.
After an impressive response from his gala performance in 2012 at THE JUST FOR LAUGHS FESTIVAL, Graham appeared on the premiere episode of MATCH GAME on The Comedy Network. Graham also made several appearances on CBC’s THE DEBATERS, before catching the eye of comedian John Pinette who hired Graham as the feature act on his Still Hungry tour, a sold-out theatre tour spanning the country from Ottawa to Vancouver Island. Graham has written for CBC’s THE DEBATERS, THE GENIE AWARDS, and JUST FOR LAUGHS, and this year he began writing and working as a creative consultant for MR. D.
In his stand up career, Graham has shared the stage with Gerry Dee, Brent Butt, Howie Mandel, Andrea Martin, and many more. Most recently, Graham has joined the ensemble cast of MTV’s flagship comedy talk series MTV SHOWTOWN, alongside Paul Lemieux, Sheena Snively and Nicole Holness, delivering and deliberating over the day’s random hot topics and pop culture snippets. He fills the rest of his weekends with a busy schedule of live stand-up comedy across the country. An animal lover, Graham donates whatever time is left over to the SPCA, and can’t bring any more dogs home because he’s maxed out his city limit of three.
Performance Style of Graham Chittenden
Graham Chittenden says most of his comedy comes from his actual life, so he started with jokes about his parents as he was still living at home at the time. He thought parents make fascinating comedic subjects because they are fascinating in that they are not that interesting at all. He acknowledges that was inspired from his grandfather, who no matter what time he arrived, he would always have a suit on. In fact he says he really likes the elderly; whenever they are in the audience they are in fact dressed up and wearing a suit.
