How to Book Talent
  • Contact us for talent recommendations or to check an act or speaker’s availability. We’ll put together a clear proposal you can share with your team, with fees, program details, and videos all in one place.
  • Once you’ve chosen your talent, we’ll extend the offer on your behalf and guide you through the contracting process from start to finish.
  • From there, your dedicated logistics manager takes care of the details: scheduling a pre-event call, coordinating requirements with your venue, and making sure your talent arrives prepared to deliver.
FAQs: Toronto Speakers & Entertainers
1. Toronto’s talent pool is enormous. How do we actually narrow it down?
Start from the event, not the roster, because browsing dozens of strong Toronto comedians and speakers side by side mostly produces indecision. Define three things first: what the audience should feel at the end, the hard budget, and any format constraints like room size or agenda length. Those three filters eliminate most of the list instantly. This is also the market where a booking advisor earns their keep, since they know which of several similar-looking performers has been drawing the strongest recent feedback from rooms like yours.
2. What should we know about logistics at downtown Toronto venues?
Downtown venues run on tighter tolerances than suburban hotels. Convention centres and major hotels often have scheduled loading docks, freight elevator bookings, and in-house or contracted labour requirements for staging and audiovisual work, all of which affect when an act can load in and what it costs. Parking for performers hauling equipment is its own line item. None of this is a problem when it’s planned; it becomes one at 4 p.m. on event day. Connect the act’s technical contact with the venue early and these details resolve themselves.
3. Can we see a performer live before booking?
In Toronto, often yes, and it’s an underused advantage of the market. Many corporate comedians and entertainers on the roster play local clubs, festivals, and public shows between corporate dates, so catching a live set is sometimes possible with a bit of schedule-matching. A live viewing tells you things video can’t: how the performer handles a slow room, crowd work, and pacing. Ask your booking advisor whether a candidate has upcoming public dates. When live isn’t possible, insist on full-length unedited footage rather than a highlight reel.
4. Our Toronto workforce is highly multicultural. How do we choose talent that reflects that?
Toronto’s roster is one of the most diverse in the country, which turns this from a constraint into a real programming choice. Think about it in two layers: material that travels across cultures, meaning observational and universal rather than reference-heavy, and representation on stage, where performers from a range of backgrounds signal that the event belongs to the whole room. Share your workforce’s makeup during booking, since agencies place talent into multicultural GTA rooms constantly and know which acts consistently connect across them.
5. Does a weeknight event get better availability or pricing than a Saturday?
Frequently, yes. In-demand performers fill their Friday and Saturday calendars first, especially through the fall gala season and December, so a Tuesday or Wednesday event chooses from a much fuller roster and sometimes at friendlier rates. Corporate events have quietly drifted midweek for exactly this reason, and Toronto’s after-work culture supports it. If your date is flexible, tell your booking advisor before you lock the venue; the same budget can buy a noticeably stronger act on a Wednesday than a Saturday.
6. Our national event rotates host cities each year. Can one agency handle that?
That’s the arrangement rotating conferences are built for. An agency with talent across the country can staff your Toronto year from the local pool, then do the same in Vancouver, Calgary, or Montreal without you rebuilding vendor relationships in each city, and can keep some continuity, like the same emcee travelling with the event while the entertainment stays local. It also preserves institutional memory: what worked in front of your particular crowd two cities ago informs the next booking. Mention the rotation at the start; it changes how the agency plans with you.
