Basketball coach Mike Brey knows how to use teamwork to drive dedication to excellence. He created success for the University of Notre Dame men’s basketball team and is now the all-time winningest men’s basketball coach in school history while becoming the only Irish head coach to reach 400 victories under the Golden Dome.
Brey has brought confidence and a feeling of stability to the program. He is the epitome of a players’ coach who enjoys the relationship he shares with his players.
In addition to being an outstanding coach and leader, Mike Brey’s dedication and involvement with the Coaches vs. Cancer (CVC) has helped raise over three million dollars for the organization.
Brey has won numerous awards, most notably he was named Big East coach of the year three times.
Success has always been an integral part of Brey’s life as both a player and coach. He was a former player and assistant coach for Wootten at DeMatha High School and a veteran of eight seasons as an assistant on the bench next to Krzyzewski at Duke, where he helped the Blue Devils to six NCAA Final Four appearances and two national championships.
